Our occupational therapists will assist you with attempting to regain lost everyday functions, including but not limited to dressing, bathing, self-feeding, etc. Sometimes when an individual is the unfortunate victim of an illness such as a stroke, these everyday capabilities are lost. It is the goal of our occupational therapy department to help you be as independent as you possibly can.
We offer expertise in several modalities to aid in improving your overall functional mobility such as:
- Electrical Stimulation - To improve strength, decrease pain, and prevent weakening of muscles
- Ultrasound - To help reduce swelling, inflammation, pain and improve flexibility
- Iontophoresis - An alternative "electrical" method to delivering anti-inflammatory medicine versus a sharp needle injection
- Diathermy - This a a method of "electrically" inducing heat to aid in providing muscle relaxation, improve circulation and improving flexibility. This method is a great alternative to those who are very sensitive to traditional heating methods.
- Moist Heat - To aid in providing muscle relaxation, improve circulation and decrease pain and stiffness
- Cold Packs - To aid in decreasing acute pain, inflammation and swelling
